The New Age Movement

May 2016

Introduction

God’s Message in this last day spoke out very hard against the spirit of organization and denominationalism.  The spirit of denominationalism is the spirit whereby people set up a boundary of a set of beliefs and then judge other people (and themselves) as to whether they are “in” or “out” based on that boundary.  One could say that the denominational spirit is the spirit of Phariseeism.

However, the “other side of the coin” of this denominational spirit is the spirit that declares that everything is accepted, we are all a part of God, we should “love” everybody, and that there are essentially no boundaries defining what is right and wrong.  This side of the coin is just as evil as the denominational spirit.  This “God is in all” spirit is what is known today as the “New Age movement”.

Brother Branham exhorted Brother Pearry Green to “always keep your balance in the Scriptures”.  As the Scripture says:

II TIMOTHY 2:15

15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Truth is always in the middle of the road.  The false is what washes off onto either side of the road:

PATMOS.VISION_  JEFF.IN  ROJC 69-130  SUNDAY_  60-1204E

102  You know I've always tried to be this, and our Lord has always revealed it to me; there's one extreme and another extreme; but right in the middle of the road lays the truth. Did you notice Isaiah, where He said that there shall be a highway: Isaiah 35? And you remember how our precious Nazarene brethren used to sing that song, you know, "The Highway of Holiness. Highway of Holiness." Now, if you'll read your Bible right, it doesn't say, "the highway of holiness." It said, "There shall be a highway and a way, and it shall be called," not the highway of holiness, but "the way of holiness." "And" is a conjunction that finishes your sentence. See? "It shall be a highway and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness," not a highway of holiness.

See, a road's built, a way... A good road is built, the highest part's in the center, because it let's all the trash wash off to both sides. That's it. When a man really comes to Christ, he's got his eyes centered on Christ.

179  Watch how close it gets to that razor edge now between right and wrong. And remember, it'll fall on one or the other sides; and it comes down sometime like a honed razor between the difference of right and wrong. It's got to be every Word of God, not just almost every Word, but every Word. And it's got down today, not to Lutherans, not to Methodists, not to Pentecostals, but to that honed age, in this age where just the antichrist anointing is so perfectly, it would deceive the very Elected; they'll fall on the wrong side if they don't watch it, like a wedge. Watch. Be careful. We're not living in a Pentecostal age now. We're passed that age, ...

For our present topic, one could picture it this way:

Incredible as it may sound, there are groups that have claimed to be in the Message that have gone down the path of this “new age” spirit, thinking that they are entering into a deep revelation of God.

The New Age movement is what will be discussed in this article.

God’s Warning For This Age

We know that God’s prophet cried out continually against the spirit of denominationalism.  But he also spoke out against the “other side of the coin” that was to rise up in this last day:

319-3 LAODICEAN.CHURCH.AGE  -  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.9

How fitting were the characteristics of this last age to represent the age in which we now live. For example, they worshipped one god, Zeus, who was the chief and father of the gods. This forecast the twentieth century 'one God, father-of-us-all' religious premise that sets forth the brotherhood of man, and is even now bringing together the Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Hindus, etc. with the intent that a mutual form of worship will increase our love, understanding, and care of each other. The Catholics and Protestants are even now striving for, and actually gaining ground in this union with the avowed intent that all others will follow. This very attitude was seen in the United Nations Organization when the world leaders refused to recognize any one individual concept of spiritual worship but recommended putting aside all those separate concepts with the hopes that all religions become leveled into one, for all desire the same goals, all have the same purposes and all are basically right.

The New Age Movement Defined

The New Age movement is a movement wherein its followers believe that they are seeing the real truth of what is going on, of how things work.  They believe that all people are a part of “God” (or whatever term each person chooses to use for God, e.g., “Higher Power”, “the Universe”, “the Eternal Spirit”, “Nature”, “the Infinite”, “the Source”, “the One”, “Light”, etc.).

The mystical teachings of all religions are considered to have been in touch with this ultimate truth.  All people are accepted, because all are a part of “God”.  All different religious paths are accepted, because each is considered to be an individual’s unique way of pursuing the one truth that we all are coming to.

There are no absolutes, no real boundaries, no judgment – all paths to truth are accepted.  Those that pursue a particular religion may be considered to be somewhat ignorant of the real deeper truths, but are loved as those who are currently “less enlightened”.  There is no actual being called the devil.  Everything is one and is a part of God, and we are just evolving up to a higher knowledge and consciousness of the truth.

Some believe that the world is transitioning into a “new age” of enlightenment, a “new age” of higher consciousness and spirituality, that we are entering into the “Age of Aquarius” (and hence the name “New Age” movement).

The great teachers of all religions (Jesus Christ, Buddha, Islamic mystics, catholic mystics, etc.) are considered to have been enlightened ones, but none of their teachings are to be taken as absolutes - only the parts of their teachings that line up with the current “higher understanding of truth” are to be accepted.

New Age adherents consider truth to have been taught by enlightened ones of all ages, and this hidden truth is now becoming known (“the secret”) (we are evolving into a higher level, a “new age” of consciousness).

The New Age Movement’s Deceptiveness

This Laodicean age is the greatest age of deception, deception being where people think that they are in right standing with God when they are not:

GOD.OF.THIS.EVIL.AGE_  JEFF.IN  V-4 N-9  SUNDAY_  65-0801M

33  Last week, in Matthew 24 it was the most deceiving age of all ages. All the ages of deceit from the garden of Eden all the way down, there's never been an age so deceptive as this age. False prophets will rise and show signs and wonders, if possible, to deceive the very Elected. See? Now, just a cold, formal, starchy churches and so forth of manmade theology, that wouldn't--the Elect would never pay no attention to that. But it's up there almost like the real thing. Just leaving out one word is all you have to do. Promised of the age, very great time... Christians everywhere, take heed to the hour we're living. Mark down, and read, and listen close.

The New Age movement is very deceptive because its principles embody much truth and have much good in them.  In fact, when many of the principles of the New Age movement are applied correctly to a born again Christian, they can actually be a blessing and a help.  Principles such as believing that you are a part of God (your real “essence”), overcoming your “false self” (your “ego”) so that the real you (your “essence”) can be expressed, not judging but loving others, etc., are all good things, when applied correctly.

What is even more deceptive is that the New Age movement contains many Biblical terms: the Mystery, the Truth (the Father), the Logos (the unfolding, the expression of Truth), Theophany, Faith, Christ, the Beast, resting, not doing, getting out of the way to let the intrinsic harmony of body and spirit automatically express itself - all true principles when applied correctly.

New Age adherents talk about the principles of the “I AM” and of “being present”, but by not receiving the “I AM” ministry of their day they are actually walking in a state of deception, for to walk in the Light is to recognize your day and its message.

The New Age movement aligns with many eastern philosophies in the concepts of focusing on the unity of mind and body, learning to get out of the way to let intrinsic harmony automatically express itself, etc.  Because of the deeper contemplation and honesty called for in these philosophies, they have a spiritual and reverent quality about them which adds to its deceptiveness.

New Age adherents can feel a “peace” within themselves because they have released themselves from the burden to have to stand boldly for something, i.e., to have to confront and declare “THIS ONE WAY (Jesus Christ) is the Way, the Truth, and the Life”.  They feel that they can now just “love” everybody (but we shall see later that this “love” is not true love at all).  Hence the price incurred in standing up for something is eliminated.  This truly is a “broad way” that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13).

New Age people look at denominational people and compare themselves, using that comparison as a justification: “we are not Pharisees and judges like those people, condemning others.  We love everybody – we are not bound by do’s and dont’s”.

Whereas denominational people look at New Age people and compare themselves, using that comparison as a justification: “we stand for something – we are not just a wishy-washy group of people that say everything is alright and that everybody’s path to God is okay”.

But Truth lies right in the middle of the road between each of these extremes.  The Tree of Life is that “middle of the road” which can only be walked by Faith.  Only the Elect will not be deceived and will be able to walk on that fine razor’s edge of Faith all the way up to receiving the body change.

Satan, who is the master of deception, knows that something that is 99.99% truth is still a lie.  Satan knows that that is all he needs in order to deceive his people.  Satan knows that that little fraction of a lie is enough to “leaven the whole lump” (I Corinthians 5:6):

WHAT.SHALL.I.DO.WITH.JESUS_  JEFF.IN  63-1124M

129  Eve had the Word. Satan's against the Word. And look. Almost ninety-nine and ninety-nine hundredths of It, Satan admitted was right. So close, the Bible said, "In the last days would deceive the very elected if it was possible." See how it comes in? How it's always been? How it's going out? The same way: united of unbelief in all the full Word of God. You got it? That's what brought death is uniting unbelief with the Word. Unbelief: just a little bitty part of it, little bitty, teeny bit, one hundredth of one percent. But It must be one-hundred percent.  That's all.

The New Age Movement’s Core Error

The New Age movement’s core error is that it rejects the Lordship, the Godhood, the absolute authority of Jesus Christ (who is the Word).  It rejects the truth that Jesus Christ is the only Way to Truth.  It rejects the truth that Jesus Christ IS GOD.

However, New Age adherents will sympathize with Jesus Christ, quoting parts of what He said and giving Him the honor of being an “enlightened one”.  But in their own way they are doing the same thing that denominational Christians do in that they pick and choose just the parts of the Word that line up with what they want to believe.

New Age adherents use spiritual terms such as the term “Logos”, but they will not say what the Bible says about it, that the Logos in its fullness became flesh in Jesus Christ and dwelt among us:

JOHN 1:1, 14

1  In the beginning was the Word [Logos], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14  And the Word  [Logos] was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

As a consequence of their rejection of the full authority of the Word, they reject the notion that a person needs to have a nature change, i.e., that a person needs to be born again (though they may use the term “born again” in a New Age counterfeit way).  They teach that all people are already a part of God.  To them the process of growth lies in learning of this fact and then growing in one’s experience of living by one’s “essence”.  The step of the Biblical New Birth is omitted, as will be discussed in more detail later.

To the New Age believer, there is no “ultimate evil” (a devil) and there is no hell to stay away from.  When one dies he gets reincarnated to continue on in his path of growth.

Thus the New Age movement gives people a false sense of peace and security, for the Scripture says “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

The Lordship of Jesus Christ

Satan will do anything that he can to rob Jesus Christ of the glory and praise that is due Him.  In denominational Christianity satan does this by making Jesus just one person of three (the Trinity doctrine), whereas in the New Age movement satan does this by making Jesus just one of a number of “enlightened ones”.

But the Scriptures state clearly that Jesus Christ is GOD.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  He is the only Way to the Father:

JOHN 14:6

6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus Christ is the center of all things:

I TIMOTHY 2:4-5

4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5  For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

ACTS 13:38-39

38  Be it known unto you therefore, men [and] brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39  And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

The Cost of Discipleship, Page 106-107, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

He is the Mediator, not only between God and man, but between man and man, between man and reality. Since the whole world was created through him and unto him (John 1:3; 1st Cor. 8:6; Heb. 1:2), he is the sole Mediator in the world.  Since his coming man has no immediate relationship of his own any more to anything, neither to God nor to the world; Christ wants to be the mediator. Of course, there are plenty of gods who offer men direct access, and the world naturally uses every means in its power to retain its direct hold on men, but that is the very reason why it is so bitterly opposed to Christ, the Mediator.

The Cost of Discipleship, Page 64, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Only the Mediator, the God-Man, can call men to follow him.  Discipleship without Jesus Christ is a way of our own choosing.  It may be the ideal way.  It may even lead to martyrdom, but it is devoid of all promise.  Jesus will certainly reject it.

What has been restored back in this day is the Capstone Revelation of God:

332-3 LAODICEAN.CHURCH.AGE  -  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.9

And now in this last age, we have come back to the capstone revelation, the most important revelation of Godhead in the whole Bible, that is, JESUS IS GOD, HE AND THE FATHER ARE ONE: THERE IS ONE GOD, AND HIS NAME IS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

[Note: the capitalization is Brother Branham’s]

The New Age movement is one of satan’s tools to rob people of this Capstone Revelation.

In the following quote from one of the most (if not the most) important messages, notice how Brother Branham emphasizes the fact that Jesus was the fullness of the Godhead bodily:

CHRIST.IS.THE.MYSTERY_  JEFF.IN  63-0728

14-3    Now, I want you to turn to the Book of Colossians, the 1st chapter of Colossians. And then, while we read this, beginning with... I want you, when you go home, to read the entire chapter of these Colossians.

For it pleased the Father that in him should be all fulness dwell;--should all fulness dwell;... (Let me put a little emphasis on that again--this 19th verse.)

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Notice also that Brother Branham wanted the people when they went home to “read the entire chapter of these Colossians”.

It is in this Book of Colossians that the Apostle Paul speaks against “philosophies” that were taking away from the Deity of Jesus Christ.  Notice in the following Scripture that the warning of verse 8 is answered by the “For” of verse 9:

COLOSSIANS 2:6-10

6    As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, [so] walk ye in him:

7    Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

8    Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

9    For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10   And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Regarding the phrase “through philosophy” mentioned in the above Scripture, Albert Barnes’ notes on the Bible contain the following comments:

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

Through philosophy - The Greek philosophy prevailed much in the regions around Colossae, and perhaps also the oriental or Gnostic philosophy.  See the Introduction.  They were exposed to the influences of these plausible systems. They consisted much of speculations respecting the nature of the divine existence; and the danger of the Colossians was, that they would rely rather on the deductions of that specious reasoning, than on what they had been taught by their Christian teachers.

The definition of the word “specious” used in the above quote is shown below:

specious adj.

1.      Having the ring of truth or plausibility but actually fallacious: a specious argument.

2.      Deceptively attractive.

3.      apparently correct or true, but actually wrong or false

4.      deceptively attractive in appearance

Brother Branham speaks about “philosophies” taking away from the authority of the Word, starting right there in the first church age:

84-2 EPHESIAN.CHURCH.AGE  -  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.3

Why here is where it all started. Right here in the first church age. Already they were denying the Word and setting up their own creeds and philosophies instead of the Word. That is antichrist, for Jesus is the Word. To be anti-Word is to be anti-Jesus. To be anti-Word is to be antichrist, because the Spirit and the Word are ONE.

The New Age philosophy of this day is one of satan’s ways to take away from the Deity of Jesus Christ by making Him just an “enlightened teacher” and not God Himself.

Anything that takes away from the absolute authority and Godhood of Jesus Christ (who is the Word) is of the devil, no matter how good and positive it may seem.

You Must Be Born Again

The New Age movement teaches that a person’s “essence” is God without the need to be born again.  This follows naturally from their belief that there is no “ultimate evil” or satan, and hence why would there be a need to be delivered from that “ultimate evil” if there is no “ultimate evil”?

The following quote is from the book Facets of Unity: The Enneagram of Holy Ideas, which shows the typical New Age concept regarding the existence of evil:

Facets of Unity, Page 216, A.H. Almaas

In spiritual work, concepts of a devil, of dark forces, of some evil that exists on its own outside of the goodness of reality are considered manifestations of ignorance, both in terms of believing in such concepts and in terms of the manifestations attributed to such forces.  All spiritual work would be pointless if there were such a thing as ultimate evil.

But what did Jesus teach about the existence of “ultimate evil” (i.e., satan)?:

JOHN 8:44-47

44  Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45  And because I tell [you] the truth, ye believe me not.

46  Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47  He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.

JOHN 14:30

30  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

The Bible teaches that all people through being born of sex start off with an evil satanic nature within them (i.e., their “essence” starting off is NOT God):

EPHESIANS 2:3-5

3  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

To the Christian, in order to have his “essence” changed to be a part of God, he has to be born again:

JOHN 3:3

3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

To be born again, to have one’s “essence” truly become a part of God, requires a painful death.  That is why there are not very many genuine New Births, and that is why ways that do not require people to die out to being their own absolutes are the “broad ways” that lead to destruction:

BIRTH.PAINS_  PHOENIX.AZ  V-3 N-4  SUNDAY_  65-0124

13-1  And that's why I think today we have so many--not so many rather, genuine new births, is because the seed is--maybe will sympathize with the Word or the person, but they don't want to rot away from the old system that they were in. They don't want to come out of it. They want to stay in the old system and claim the new birth or the message of the age.

MATTHEW 7:13-14

13  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14  Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

This is why the New Age movement is so seductive.  It tells people that they already are a part of God, thus bypassing the need to be born again.  A New Age adherent therefore does not need to pay the price of dying out to being his own absolute.

But when Jesus Christ calls a person, he bids him come and die:

The Cost of Discipleship, Page 99, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The cross is laid on every Christian. The first Christ-suffering which every man must experience is the call to abandon the attachments of this world. It is that dying of the old man which is the result of his encounter with Christ. As we embark upon discipleship we surrender ourselves to Christ in union with his death—we give over our  lives to death. Thus it begins; the cross is not the terrible end to an otherwise god-fearing and happy life, but it meets us at the beginning of our communion with Christ. When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die. It may be a death like that of the first disciples who had to leave home and work to follow him, or it may be a death like Luther’s, who had to leave the monastery and go out into the world. But it is the same death every time—death in Jesus Christ, the death of the old man at his call.

True Love

One of the New Age movement’s deceptive qualities is that it gives the feeling to its adherents that they really love people.  It gives them this false sense of peace because it takes away the need for them to ever have to stand up for something and call it “true”, which consequently eliminates the need for them to ever have to uncomfortably confront a person.

Since New Age teaching states that everybody is already a part of God and that everybody’s unique way to God is accepted, consequently all people are already one and thus it is all “love”.

To feel otherwise would be to be making “judgments” which New Age philosophy strictly rejects.  And of course New Age adherents will enthusiastically quote what Jesus said in Matthew 7:1 (“Judge not”), but will conveniently not quote the other things that He said (e.g., “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6)).

But what really is love?  The following quote is from the book Ethics by Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

Ethics, Page 51, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The New Testament answers the question ‘What is love?’ quite unambiguously by pointing solely and entirely to Jesus Christ.  He is the only definition of love.  But again it would be a complete misunderstanding if we were to derive a general definition of love from our view of Jesus Christ and of His deed and His suffering.  Love is not what He does and what He suffers, but it is what He does and what He suffers.  Love is always He Himself.  Love is always God Himself.  Love is always the revelation of God in Jesus Christ.

And what did Love (Jesus Christ) say?:

JOHN 8:23-24

23  And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

LUKE 12:51-53

51  Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

52  For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

53  The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Brother Branham gave this description of what real love expresses:

CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

3-6  And many times I've been considered amongst the people (Well, maybe someone who just didn't set down and think a minute), that I was a--a--oh, an awful person, that I didn't like people and I was always cutting them. And that's not so. That isn't so. I love people. But you know, love is corrective.

4-2  If your little boy was setting in the street out there, and you said, "Junior dear, I don't want you out there, but..." and cars buzzing by him, and you brought him in, he run out again, why, you should correct him. If you love him, you will. You have to...

If you seen a man floating down the river towards a falls in a little boat, that you knowed that boat was going to sink when it hit the falls, would you say, "John, you, maybe you ought to think awhile. Maybe you might not make it." If I know he's not going to make it, I'm going to almost jerk him out of the boat, if I can, because it is love that does that.

Now it is true, as New Age adherents will point out, that Pharisaical “love” is not true love.  The Pharisees certainly had no problem “correcting” others.  But their “correction” was not out of the motive of genuine concern for others, but it was out of a self-righteous, legalistic, good and evil judging of those others.

But the New Age “love”, the other side of the same evil coin, is also not real love and is just as bad as the Pharisaical “love”.

To pay the price of confronting a person out of genuine concern for him as you see him heading toward certain death is not “judging” him but is truly loving him.  True love will endure that person’s rejection and anger toward you as you correct him for his ultimate good.

So we can see that, though there is definitely a truth to “Judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matthew 7:1), it is also true that real love will pay the price involved in crying out a warning to those that are blindly headed towards death, because real love cares for those people (“But speaking the truth in love, …” (Ephesians 4:15a)).

So we again are confronted with the fact that truth is in the middle.  Truth lies on that fine razor’s edge between right and wrong.  It can only be walked by Faith.

True Love will pay the price of confronting and speaking the Truth when needed, and it will spring from the motive of genuine concern for a person’s ultimate well-being and destiny:

EPHESIANS 4:15-16

15  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ:

16  From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

HEBREWS 3:13

13  But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

PROVERBS 28:23

23  He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

He that rebuketh a man”                    True Corrective Love

he that flattereth with the tongue”New Age “love”

PROVERBS 27:6

6  Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful.

Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend”   True Corrective Love

“the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful”New Age “love”

Love may even need to speak harsh, direct words, as Jesus did here:

JOHN 8:24

24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

JOHN 14:6

6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

When it comes to a person’s ultimate destiny, love does what is best for that person, even at the price of uncomfortable confrontation and rejection:

II CORINTHIANS 12:15

15  And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

In Summary

This age is the greatest age of deception.  Satan will try to get people any way that he can.  If he cannot get people to fall off on the one extreme (denominationalism, Phariseeism), then he will try to get them to fall off on the opposite extreme (the New Age movement, “love everybody”).

It is understandable to see the New Age movement as a backlash against denominational, judgmental, Pharisaical religion.  But what needs to be understood is that the New Age movement is the opposite extreme, the other side of the same evil coin.

The Pharisees will justify their judging of others by calling it “speaking the Truth in Love”, whereas the New Age adherents will justify their lack of “speaking the Truth in Love” by calling it “not judging others”.  How deceptive.  But Truth is in the middle.

The narrow way that leads to Life lies right in the “middle of the road”.  Only the Elect will be able to walk that narrow way without falling off to one side or the other, for it is a life of faith.  This is the Life that cannot be impersonated.
